Ottawa Senators defenceman Artem Zub will not play on Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings after suffering an upper-body injury, coach D.J. Smith confirmed to reporters on Friday.
Zub was hit near the ear on a shot by Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin on Wednesday.
The team is listing Zub as day to day.
The Russian had three goals and seven assists in 53 games for the Senators last season.
To replace Zub, the Senators recalled defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker from the AHL's Belleville Senators.
