The San Jose Sharks have locked up an important piece of their future by agreeing to a three-year, entry-level contract with forward William Eklund.
Eklund was the seventh overall pick in last month's NHL Draft.

The 18-year-old had 11 goals and 23 points in 40 games with Djurgardens IF, winning the SHL's rookie of the year award and being named Swedish Junior Hockey Player of the Year.
Eklund was developed through the Djurgardens junior system, including scoring 39 points in 44 games in the SuperElit (J-20) and 26 points in 31 career games at the Allsvenskan juniors level.
