Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.
Gabriel, 27, registered five goals, nine points and 92 penalty minutes in 53 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season. In his NHL career, he has two goals and five points in 38 games split between the Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils.
“Kurtis provides valuable depth to the organization, having experience at both the NHL and AHL level,” Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said. “He is a great teammate who brings an extremely competitive, hard working attitude on the ice. We are happy to have him join our organization.”
The Newmarket, Ont., native was selected by the Wild in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft, 81st overall.
