The San Jose Sharks will play at least one more game without their captain.
Macklin Celebrini was not in the lineup on Thursday for a road game against the St. Louis Blues. It was his second consecutive game missed.
Celebrini was a late scratch on Monday against the Dallas Stars despite taking warm-ups, dealing with a lower-body injury. He missed practice on Tuesday but took part in morning skate earlier on Thursday, and head coach Ryan Warsofsky said he was a game-time decision.
Warsofsky added it was a "good sign" that Celebrini was skating.
Earlier in the week, Warsofsky told reporters the injury had been lingering before the Stars game.
The 20-year-old star is off to a strong start with five assists in two games before going down. He had a franchise-record 115 points last season.
