A painful injury for a key Dallas Stars player has come to light.
Roope Hintz tore his hamstring from two different spots, which forced him to miss the Stars' first-round series loss against the Minnesota Wild, he told reporters on Monday.
Hintz had a setback in recovery and might have been ready by Game 2 or 3 of the second round if Dallas had advanced, he added.
Hintz suffered the injury in a March 6 game against the Colorado Avalanche, when he had to be helped off the ice following a collision with Nathan MacKinnon.
The Finnish winger had 15 goals and 29 assists in 53 games for Dallas this season. He also had a goal and four points in a bronze-medal-winning effort for Finland at the Winter Olympics.
Dallas was eliminated in six games by the Wild, who moved on to the second round to play the Colorado Avalanche.
