Jamie Benn has been reprimanded for a cross-check on Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman.
The Dallas Stars forward was fined $2,604.17, the maximum allowed under the CBA, for the play in Game 5, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday.
Benn and Hartman got into a heated exchange in the third period of Tuesday's contest after the Wild forward caught the Stars forward in the face with his glove.
Benn then delivered two hard cross-checks — one to Hartman's back and one to his head. Hartman received a two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, while Benn got two minutes for cross-checking.
The Wild went on to win 4-2 to take a 3–2 lead in the series. They now have a chance to close out the series at home on Thursday in Game 6 (7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT on SN360 and Sportsnet+).
