Miro Heiskanen's night has come to an early end.
The Dallas Stars announced the defenceman had been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's contest against the Washington Capitals due to an upper-body injury.
While it's unclear what caused his exit in the second period, he appeared to have taken a hit into the boards by the Capitals' Justin Sourdif while both were chasing a loose puck. That wound up being Heiskanen's final shift before he was ruled out.
He logged 9:41 of ice time and one blocked shot.
Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan told reporters after the game that the veteran will be evaluated on Wednesday and that the team is hoping the injury isn't as serious as originally considered.
Heiskanen entered Tuesday's matchup having made 14 appearances, registering three goals and eight assists in that span — leading all Stars blue-liners in points this season and ranking tied-third among all Dallas skaters.
