The Dallas Stars have locked up a piece of their core.
Dallas signed star defenceman Thomas Harley to an eight-year, $84.696-million contract extension on Tuesday, the team announced. The deal carries an AAV of $10.587 million.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was first to report that the two sides were getting close on the deal.
The 24-year-old Harley has become a big piece of the Stars' core over the past two seasons.
In 2024-25, he recorded 16 goals and 34 assists over 78 games. He also added four goals and 10 assists over 18 playoff games.
Through nine games this season, Harley has one goal and seven assists.
Harley was also called up to the Canadian roster at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February after Shea Theodore suffered an injury.
He picked up an assist in Canada's 3-2 overtime win over the United States in the tournament final.
