Dallas Stars forward Roope Hintz had to be helped off the ice in the second period of Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Hintz was thrown to the ice by Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon after a puck battle in the Colorado end. He stayed down on the ice as play stopped and was later ruled out by Dallas with a lower-body injury.
The 29-year-old had logged 11:26 of ice time in the contest before being forced to exit.
Hintz was playing in his return from the injured reserve. He had missed the past week with an illness.
The Finnish winger entered play Friday with 15 goals and 29 assists in 52 games for Dallas. He also had a goal and four points in a bronze-medal winning effort for Finland at the Winter Olympics.
It would be a major blow to Dallas if Hintz misses a significant amount of time. The Stars currently sit second in the Central Division with 85 points, just three ahead of the Minnesota Wild.
