The Dallas Stars will be without one of their star forwards as they gear up for the stretch run.
Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan told reporters Saturday that Roope Hintz will miss "a couple weeks" after exiting Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche with a lower-body injury, per D Magazine's Robert Tiffin.
“He’s gonna miss some time," Gulutzan said.
“He's got to go see another doctor, so we'll see how long that's gonna be.”
Hintz was thrown to the ice by Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon after a puck battle in the Colorado end. He stayed down on the ice as play stopped and was later ruled out by Dallas.
The 29-year-old had logged 11:26 of ice time in the contest before being forced to exit.
Hintz was playing in his return from the injured reserve. He had missed the past week due to illness.
The Finnish winger has 15 goals and 29 assists in 53 games for Dallas this season. He also had a goal and four points in a bronze-medal-winning effort for Finland at the Winter Olympics.
The Stars currently sit second in the Central Division with 86 points, just two ahead of the Minnesota Wild.
