The Dallas Stars have signed forward Jordan Kawaguchi to a one-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Kawaguchi will be reporting to the AHL's Texas Stars on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

The 23-year-old posted 10 goals and 36 points in 28 games with the University of North Dakota during the 2020-21 campaign, earning him third in the NCAA in assists (26) and fourth in points. The undrafted forward was captain in his senior season and also recorded a plus-19 rating.

The Abbotsford, B.C., native finishes his NCAA career with 40 goals and 126 points in 136 games with the Fighting Hawks. Kawaguchi was a finalist for the 2020 Hobey Baker Award for the top player in NCAA men's hockey and earned National Collegiate Hockey Conference First All-Star Team honours in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
