The Dallas Stars are locking up one of their rookies.
Centre Justin Hryckowian and the Stars have agreed to a two-year, one-way extension worth $1.9 million ($950,000 AAV), the team announced on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old is currently playing in his second season, his first full with the team. He made the Stars' opening night roster out of training camp, and has tallied six goals and seven assists for 13 points through 42 games.
He is on pace to finish the season with 12 goals, 14 assists and 26 points.
Hryckowian ranks second among NHL rookies to take at least 50 draws this season in face-off win percentage, going 56-for-100 (56 per cent) in the dot.
A native of L'Ile-Bizard, Que., Hrychowian spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate, where he won the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL’s Most Outstanding Rookie.
He had 22 goals and 60 points in 67 games.
