The Dallas Stars are set in net.
Backup Casey DeSmith signed a two-year, $5-million contract extension running through the 2028-29 season, the team announced on Wednesday.
The signing gives the Stars security at goalie for at least three seasons, with DeSmith set to continue backing up starter Jake Oettinger, who is under contract through the 2032-33 campaign.
"Extending Casey has been a priority for us, and we’re excited to have him locked up for two more years," Stars GM Jim Nill said in a statement. "He’s been incredibly reliable during his time with our organization, and we are looking forward to the tandem of Casey and Jake continuing to anchor our team moving forward."
DeSmith, 35, is entering his third season with the Stars. He appeared in 30 games last season, posting a .907 save percentage and 2.43 goals-against average while earning 15 wins.
For his career, the Rochester, N.H., native owns a .910 save percentage and 2.74 GAA across eight seasons with the Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks.
