It might just be pre-season hockey but there appears to be no love lost between the Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings. It also looks like Mark Stone isn't a big fan of Hayden Hodgson.
Stone and Hodgson provided some fireworks in Wednesday's pre-season tilt after the Kings forward laid a big hit on the Golden Knights captain, which the latter took exception to.
During the second period, Stone was retrieving a puck in his own end behind the net when Hodgson charged towards him and hit him into the boards. A brawl ensued on the ice after the hit, with Stone and linemate Brett Howden going after Hodgson in retaliation.
When asked about the play after the game, Stone didn't hold back on what he felt about Hodgson. Stone felt Hodgson was trying to make a name for himself by going after him.
“That’s probably the last time I’ll ever play against that guy,” Stone said. “Not really much of a player, so I’ll leave it at that.”
During the scrum, Stone grabbed Kings prospect Brandt Clarke and exchanged words with the young defenceman, who didn't appear willing to engage with the veteran forward.
“I think I scared him a little, didn’t I? Honestly, I was looking around for some of their talented players to run at them, and he was really the only one,” Stone said about his exchange with Clarke. “It’s unfortunate, you’re playing against a team like that; they’re trying to make a name for themselves.”
