The Washington Capitals are getting one of their Olympians back in the lineup.
Right winger Tom Wilson will return Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks after missing that past eight games with a lower-body injury, the Capitals announced on Wednesday.
Wilson will be slot in on the second line alongside Justin Sourdif and Aliaksei Protas as Washington continues their six-game road trip.
Wilson was injured Jan. 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks after colliding with defenceman Connor Murphy in the first period. He did not return after landing awkwardly on his right leg.
Wilson was one of 25 players named to Canada’s Olympic team, along with Capitals teammate Logan Thompson. Despite the missed time, the 29-year-old leads Washington in goals (22) and is tied with Alexander Ovechkin for the team lead in points (42) through 41 games.
The Capitals sit just outside of the Wild Card picture with 54 points and are fifth place in the Metropolitan Division.
