The Americans’ leading NHL goal-scorer will watch the 4 Nations Face-Off final from the press box.
Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor took warmup but was scratched from the U.S. lineup against Canada on Thursday and replaced by the New York Rangers’ Chris Kreider.
Connor, 28, has struggled during the tournament, recording just one assist over three contests. He tops American skaters with 30 markers in 59 NHL appearances with the Jets on the season.
Kreider, 33, drew in for the first time on Monday and scored the Americans’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Sweden.
Canada made two lineup changes for the game with Seth Jarvis and Thomas Harley coming in and Travis Konecny and Josh Morrissey (illness) sitting out.
