New York Rangers forward Vitali Kravtsov had to head to the locker room with an upper-body injury just two shifts into his NHL season.
The 2018 first-round pick was taken into the boards in the first period by Lightning defencemen Victor Hedman and was slow to get up. He did not return to play to start the second frame and the team announced that he would miss the remainder of the game.
Kravtsov hasn’t seen NHL action since the 2020-2021 campaign when he registered four points in 20 games. Last season he appeared in 19 games for KHL club Chelyabinsk Traktor.
Hedman was not given a penalty on the play.
