Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes was asked about a recent report that detailed a promise made to Sean Monahan after signing a contract that the team was going to look to flip him to a contender, and said that it wasn't necessarily that cut and dry.

Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes spoke to the media at the team's mid-season availability on Monday.

The Canadiens are 17-18-7 and sit in sixth place of the Atlantic Division after 42 games this season.
