The Foligno brothers are teaming up on the Minnesota Wild.
The Wild acquired winger Nick Foligno from the Chicago Blackhawks, the teams announced Friday, pairing him with brother Marcus Foligno.
Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed the move.
Chicago received future considerations in return, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
The Blackhawks will not retain any of Foligno's $4.5 million cap hit in the move, as they has no retention spots remaining.
Foligno, 38, has been the Blackhawks' captain for the past two seasons. He has three goals and eight assists in 37 games this season while playing an average of 12:48 of ice time per night.
Blashill added that the captaincy would not be filled until the off-season. In the meantime, Connor Bedard and Tyler Bertuzzi will serve as alternate captains.
A solid two-way forward, Foligno has been a big part of the Blackhawks' NHL-best penalty-kill unit. He'll now help the Wild's middling penalty kill, which ranks 22nd in the NHL.
Marcus Foligno, 34, is currently an alternate captain for the Wild after spending the last nine seasons with the team.
