The Minnesota Wild are signing one of their rookie showcase standouts to a deal.
Goaltender Chase Wutzke has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Wild, beginning in the 2025-26 season, the team announced Monday.
Wutzke had an impressive showing at the Wild rookie showcase after a solid fourth season in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels.
The 19-year-old played 50 regular-season games for the Rebels, tallying a 17-25-5 record with a 3.38 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage. He had one shutout and ranked fifth in the WHL in saves with 1,371.
Selected 142nd overall in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft, Wutzke is a native of Debden, Sask., and has a career 40-35-10 record with a 3.21 GAA and a .896 save percentage in major junior hockey.
He helped steer the Rebels to the post-season in the 2023-24 season and put up a 4-2-1 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .924 save percentage in the playoffs.
