The Minnesota Wild lost a shutdown defenceman on Tuesday night.
Jonas Brodin exited Minnesota's game against the Dallas Stars after taking a Mikko Rantanen shot off the foot early in the second period, and did not return.
Minnesota announced Brodin would not return with a lower-body injury and coach John Hynes had no update on his status after the game.
Brodin was reportedly spotted heading to the team bus on crutches after the game.
Rantanen took a drop pass in the high slot and wired the puck off Brodin's foot from close range. The left-shot D-man laboured to the bench and back to the dressing room.
The 32-year-old had 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) in 62 games for the Wild this season, and has one helper and a plus-two rating over five playoff games.
Minnesota ultimately took Game 5 by a score of 4-2, and head back home for Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead.
