The Minnesota Wild will be without a couple of key players for Thursday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.
Defenceman Jonas Brodin and forward Joel Eriksson Ek were both ruled out for the game by head coach John Hynes on Thursday morning.
Hynes told reporters that Brodin is week-to-week, while Eriksson Ek is day-to-day.
Eriksson Ek does appear close to a return, as Hynes said the forward will join the team on its upcoming road trip, which begins Saturday in Buffalo.
Along with being teammates on the Wild, both players were also named to Sweden's Olympic hockey team. Hynes said Thursday that he wouldn't put Brodin's status for the Winter Olympics in jeopardy just yet.
Brodin suffered a lower-body injury in Monday's 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils. The 32-year-old defenceman has three goals and 12 assists in 42 games with the Wild this season.
Eriksson Ek has missed the team's past two games after he was injured in last Thursday's overtime win over the Seattle Kraken.
The 28-year-old forward has 11 goals and 21 assists in 45 games this season.
Both players have been key contributors for a Wild team that sits third in the Central Division with a 26-12-9 record.
