Filip Gustavsson will be spending the off-season in recovery.
The Minnesota Wild netminder is set to have surgery on his hip, general manager Bill Guerin told reporters on Monday.
It's unclear if Gustavsson will be ready for the start of next season until after the procedure, Guerin said.
Gustavsson, 27, had a 2.69 goals-against average and .903 save percentage over 50 games this season for the Wild.
Jesper Wallstedt eventually took over primary goaltending duties down the stretch and into the playoffs.
Gustavsson started only one game in the playoffs, allowing four goals on 22 shots in a Game 2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
He signed a five-year, $34-million contract extension at the start of the season that runs through 2030-31.
