Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi, the ninth pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, has returned to Austria to rest with his family due to complications from COVID-19, the team announced Saturday.

The Wild added there is no timetable for his return to Minnesota.

There are no further details about the 19-year-old's illness.

The Wild announced on Jan. 10 that Rossi would be sidelined indefinitely due to an upper-body injury.

Rossi was expected to be a darkhorse candidate for the 2020-21 Calder Trophy after leading the OHL in scoring last season with 120 points in 56 games for the Ottawa 67's.
