The Winnipeg Jets are down a top point producer.
The team announced Tuesday that winger Nikolaj Ehlers has been placed on Injured Reserve due to a lower-body injury retroactive to Nov. 29, and called up forward Brad Lambert from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
“He’ll probably be out a week to 10 days but hopefully less than that,” head coach Scott Arniel said.
Ehlers has produced at a point-per-game clip this season, recording nine goals and 25 points in 24 games for the Jets while averaging only 15:32 minutes a night. He sits third on the team in points.
The 28-year-old left the game last Friday against Vegas after a collision with Golden Knights winger Pavel Dorofeyev. Dorofeyev stepped on Ehlers' foot, causing him to go down awkwardly.
Lambert, a 2022 first-round pick, has played one NHL game in his career. He has three goals and 11 points in 16 games for the Moose. The 2023 season was his first as a pro, putting up 55 points in 64 games in the AHL.
Winnipeg (18-7-0) hosts the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday before heading on the road to Buffalo and Chicago. The Jets have struggled as of late, losing their last three after starting 15-1-0.
