Colorado Avalanche star defenceman Cale Makar won’t play Monday against the Chicago Blackhawks after tweaking something Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings, the team told reporters.

Makar, who is considered day-to-day, returned to the Avalanche on March 4 after playing just two games in February following two hits to the head.

Makar has 16 goals and 45 assists for 61 points in 55 games this season.

A two-time all-star, Makar won the Norris and Conn Smythe trophies last season as the Avalanche captured the Stanley Cup
