Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin missed Game 3 of his team’s first-round playoff series against the Seattle Kraken because of personal reasons and the team isn’t sure when he’ll return.

When asked if it was a long-term situation after the Avs’ win on Saturday, Colorado coach Jared Bednar told reporters, “I have no idea,” per The Athletic’s Peter Baugh.

The Avalanche lead the series 2-1.

The 28-year-old Russian had 17 goals and 37 assists for 47 points in 53 games this season.

Nichushkin signed an eight-year, $49-million extension with the Avalanche last off-season, after helping the team capture the Stanley Cup.
