Brandon Pirri is heading back to Chicago.
The Blackhawks have acquired the journeyman pivot in exchange for fellow centre Dylan Sikura, the club announced Monday.
The 28-year-old Pirri was drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2009 draft (59th overall) and spent parts of four seasons in Chicago. He’s also spent time with the Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers. He scored a career-high 29 points across 61 games in 2015-16.
The Toronto native had two points in 16 games for the Golden Knights last season and 35 in 38 games with Vegas’ AHL farm team, the Chicago Wolves.
Sikura, 25, has spent three years in Chicago after being selected in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2014 draft. He had three points in nine NHL games and 33 across 45 games with the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
