The Columbus Blue Jackets placed goaltender Elvis Merzlikins on injured reserve Sunday, retroactive to Nov. 15.

Merzlikins is expected to miss one-to-two weeks after he sustained a hip injury during the Blue Jackets’ 5-4 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers this past Tuesday.

The 28-year-old from Riga, Lativa, has a 2-5-0 record with a 4.74 goals-against average and .864 save percentage in nine games this season.

Merzlikins is the latest Blue Jackets player to land on the IR as the team has been hit hard with injuries as of late.

Forward Patrik Laine (sprained ankle) is expected to be out for another three weeks while top defenceman Zach Werenski (shoulder) will miss the remainder of the season. Defenceman Nick Blankenburg (fractured ankle and high ankle sprain) plus forwards Sean Kuraly and Jakub Voracek (both out with upper-body injuries) were also placed on the IR just over a week ago.

The Blue Jackets also recalled forward Trey Fix-Wolansky from the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Columbus (6-10-1) is last in the Eastern Conference and next plays host to the Florida Panthers on Sunday.
