Blue Jackets, Jack Roslovic agree to two-year contract extension

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed local product Jack Roslovic to a two-year, $8-million contract extension.

The Columbus native had 22 goals and 45 points in 81 games last season, seeing an elevated role after captain Boone Jenner was injured in March.

Roslovic, 25, was acquired by the Blue Jackets along with Patrik Laine in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets. The six-foot-one centre was scheduled to be a restricted free agent this summer and will be an unrestricted free agent when this contract expires.

“Jack is an offensively gifted player with great speed and vision who has increased his production each season during his NHL career,” general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement. “He has made great strides in his all-around game, especially during this past season, and we are very pleased that he will continue to be an important part of our team as we move forward.”

Roslovic was a first-round pick, 25th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft and has 60 goals and 146 points in 309 career games with the Blue Jackets and Jets.
