The St. Louis Blues have signed goaltender Thomas Greiss to a one-year, $1.25 million deal, the team announced Wednesday.

The Blues needed a backup to Jordan Binnington after they traded pending unrestricted free agent Ville Husso to the Red Wings last week. Husso then signed a three-year, $14.25 million deal with Detroit.

Greiss, 36, was 10-15-1 with a 3.66 goals-against average and .891 save percentage for Detroit last season.

The German has a career record of 155-120-37 with a 2.72 GAA and .912 save percentage with the Red Wings, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks.
