The Montreal Canadiens traded forward Cam Hillis to the Chicago Blackhawks for defenceman Nicolas Beaudin in a minor-league deal on Wednesday.

Beaudin, a first-round pick (27th overall) by Chicago in 2018, has spent most of his pro career with Rockford of the AHL.

The native of Chateauguay, Que., has two goals and four assists for six points in 22 games with the Blackhawks.

Hillis, a third-round pick (66th overall) by Montreal in 2018, started this season with Trois-Rivieres of the ECHL.

He played one game for the Canadiens last season.
