Canadiens’ Price forced out of Monday’s game with upper-body injury

Carey Price took a bump to the head from Alex Chiasson, and although he remained in goal for the rest of the period, it was Jake Allen who took over for the second frame.

Removed from Monday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers after 20 minutes work, Carey Price is apparently dealing with an upper-body injury, according to Montreal Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme.

Price left Monday’s game after one period of play and was replaced with Jake Allen, observers unclear on why he was unable to finish the tilt after being told he would not return.

After the game, Ducharme said an upper-body injury forced the star netminder to the sidelines. Ducharme also noted that Price’s injury wasn’t a case of re-aggravating a previous ailment, but rather, that he was injured during a collision with Edmonton’s Alex Chaisson earlier in the period.

Price, who returned last Saturday from a six-game absence related to a lower-body injury, has a 12-6-5 record with a .903 save percentage this season.

Allen posted a 2-4-0 record during Price’s last stretch of missed action, and finished Monday’s game with 25 saves on 28 shots through two periods of action.
