Canadiens claim goaltender Sam Montembault off waivers from Panthers

The Montreal Canadiens have claimed goalie Sam Montembeault off waivers from the Florida Panthers.

Montembeault, 24, posted a record of 8-4-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and .898 save percentage in 13 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch in 2020-21.

The Bécancour, Que. native has a career NHL record of 9-8-3 with a 3.20 GAA and .892 save percentage in 25 games with the Panthers.

Montembeault was selected in the third round (77th overall) by the Panthers in the 2015 NHL Draft.
