After missing the first two games of his club’s Stanley Cup Final series due to a positive COVID-19 result, Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme is expected to rejoin his team on Friday.
Ducharme has been sidelined since Game 3 of the team’s previous series with the Vegas Golden Knights after testing positive for COVID-19 on June 18, prior to said game. The result meant Ducharme had to isolate for a full 14 days, the two-week stretch coming to an end on Friday.
In his absence, the team won two of three against Vegas to close out that series, but has dropped Games 1 and 2 of their Cup Final matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“It’s like looking at your watch too often (and) it looks like time doesn’t go by,” Ducharme said last week, of watching his team play the Golden Knights without him. “I’m trying to be as busy as I can and watch a lot of video and help the guys get ready.”
The Canadiens will next get a chance to chip away at Tampa’s series lead when the two clubs meet for Game 3 on Friday, at 8 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
