The NHL is considering postponing Monday’s game between the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers after the former added two players to the league’s COVID protocol list Monday.

Joel Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi were added to the list on Monday. Players on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list have not necessarily tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and could be added for other reasons such as contact tracing determining they came in close contact with someone with the virus.

Armia and Kotkaniemi, both of whom participated in Montreal’s morning skate, won’t be eligible to play on Monday night against the Edmonton Oilers. According to Sportsnet’s Eric Engels, however, a postponement is being considered.

In 24 games this season, Armia has five goals and five assists. Kotkaniemi has four goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances.

The Canadiens will also be without Tyler Toffoli, who will miss the entire three-game series against the Oilers with a lower-body injury.
