The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Pius Suter to a two-year, $3.2 million contract, the team announced Friday.

Suter had 14 goals and 10 assists in 79 games with the Detroit Red Wings last season.

“Bringing in Pius for the next couple of years really helps us strengthen our centre ice position,” Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said in a release. “Adding a player who has scored 43 goals the past three seasons will be a boost for us up front and he will also add to our penalty killing unit as well. His flexibility to be able to play down the middle or on the wing will give Toc more options when putting together his forward lines.”

He played an 82-game campaign for the Red Wings during 2021-22 and posted career highs scoring 15 goals and 21 assists.

The 27-year-old from Zurich, Switzerland, made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020.

He has recorded 87 points (43 goals and 44 assists) in 216 games over the past three seasons with Chicago and Detroit.
