Capitals’ Ovechkin, Milano out for game vs. Rangers

The Washington Capitals announced that star forward Alex Ovechkin, as well as Sonny Milano, will miss Tuesday’s game against the New York Rangers.

The NHL’s second all-time leading goalscorer is down with a lower-body injury while Milano will sit out with an illness.

According to Capitals team writer Mike Vogel, Washington is 2-7-2 all-time when they are missing both Ovechkin and defenceman John Carlson, who has been on LTIR since Jan. 7. The Caps have also lost the last five straight games when both men have been out at the same time this season.

Ovechkin has collected 62 points (36 goals, 26 assists) this season while Milano has put up 29 points (10 goals, 29 assists) during his first campaign in D.C.
