Capitals, Trevor Van Riemsdyk agree to two-year extension

The Washington Capitals and Trevor Van Riemsdyk have agreed on a two-year extension at $950,000 AAV, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.

The deal breaks down to $900,000 in year one and $1 million in year two.

Van Riemsdyk, 29, has one goal in nine games with the Capitals this season. The defenceman signed a one-year deal worth $800,000 with the Capitals in October 2020 after three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.

In his NHL career, Van Riemsdyk has notched 16 goals and 70 points in 373 games. He previously won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015.
