Corey Perry, Loui Eriksson headline busy day on NHL’s waiver wire

NHL insider Chris Johnston joins Hockey Central to discuss a few key names of the many placed on waivers, saying it might actually be the biggest waiver dump in the history of the game.

Corey Perry, Loui Eriksson and Mathieu Perreault headline a number of notable names placed on waivers by NHL teams Monday as rosters are finalized before the regular season begins.

Defenceman Noah Juulsen was claimed off waivers by the Florida Panthers from the Montreal Canadiens.

Teams must finalize rosters by 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, meaning Monday was the final day to place players on waivers and have their situation resolve before that deadline.

A new wrinkle to the pandemic-shortened season is the addition of four-to-six player taxi squads for each team. Taxi squad players travel and practice with teams during the season, but are treated as minor league players under the salary cap. As a result, a player who requires waivers to be assigned to the AHL must pass through waivers to be assigned to the taxi squad and any team claiming a player cannot immediately assign them to the taxi squad.

Below are all 89 players who were placed on waivers Monday.
