The Arizona Coyotes are loaning top prospect Barrett Hayton to Ilves of the Finnish Elite League until the start of the next NHL season, per Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

The fifth pick in the 2018 draft had four points in 20 games with the Coyotes last season, adding five in five games with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.

Arizona also loaned Hayton to Canada for the world juniors, where he captained the team to a gold medal.

As it stands, the NHL is targeting a Jan. 1 start for next season.
