The New Jersey Devils have agreed to a two-year, $7.8-million contract with veteran goalie Corey Crawford.

The contract pays Crawford $3.6 million this season and $4.2 million in 2021-22.

“We are excited to bring Corey into our organization, as he is a proven winner and two-time Stanley Cup champion,” said GM Tom Fitzgerald in a statement. “We will look to him to assume a leadership role and be a strong presence for our young core. Crawford’s compete level and ability to battle will rub off on the entire group. This opportunity also provides him with a new challenge in his career.”

The 35-year-old has played his entire 13-year career with the Chicago Blackhawks, helping them win the Stanley Cup in 2013 and 2015. He had a 16-20-3 record with a .917 save percentage last season.

Earlier this week, the Devils bought out the final two years of veteran goalie Cory Schneider’s contract.
