The New Jersey Devils signed defenceman Mikael Diotte to a three-year, entry-level contract that will begin in the 2024-25 season, general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced Saturday.
The 20-year-old will continue with Drummondville of the QMJHL for this season, the team he’s spent parts of the last five seasons with.
Diotte was Drummondville’s second-round pick (36th) in the 2019 draft and has racked up 85 career points (20 goals and 65 assists) through 197 regular season games.
This season, Diotte has recorded 37 points, which is a career high, and is one of just 10 defencemen in the QMJHL with 10 or more goals this year. He is plus-47, ranking him first on Drummondville and third in all of the QMJHL.
