New Jersey added three players, bringing its total to 17. That includes Nathan Bastian, Jesper Bratt, Connor Carrick, Aaron Dell, Nikita Gusev, Jack Hughes, Andreas Johnsson, Janne Kuokkanen, Michael McLeod, Kyle Palmieri, Damon Severson, Yegor Sharangovich, Ty Smith, Matt Tennyson, Sami Vatanen, Pavel Zacha and Travis Zajac.
Minnesota, which already had Marcus Foligno on the list, added Nick Bjugstad, Nick Bonino, Joel Eriksson Ek, Marcus Johansson and Jared Spurgeon.
Buffalo, which already had Taylor Hall and Rasmus Ristolainen on the list, added Brandon Montour and Tobias Rieder. Tyson Jost (Colorado Avalanche) and John Marino (Pittsburgh Penguins) were added on Wednesday as well.
Johnston reports that approximately 90 players have appeared on the COVID Protocol List during the first three weeks of the season.
On Monday, the league announced the Devils would not play any games until Feb. 6 at the earliest, with the club’s number of players on the protocol list at 10 at that time.
The NHL has postponed a number of games recently as a result of numerous players being put on the COVID Protocol List. On Tuesday, it was announced that the Buffalo Sabres would not play any games until Feb. 8 at the earliest, after facing the Devils in a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday.
