The Calgary Flames announced Thursday morning that the team has recalled forward Matthew Phillips from its AHL affiliate.

The 24-year-old is tied for the AHL lead in goals with 15 and the leader in points with 30. He has played in 20 games with the Calgary Wranglers.

Phillips was the Flames’ sixth-round pick — 166th overall — in 2016. He has spent parts of the past six seasons in the AHL. He has played 219 career games, scoring 82 goals and 191 points with the Stockton Heat and Wranglers.

The five-foot-seven forward joins a Flames team that is in eighth in the Western Conference with a 13-10-3 record.

Phillips played in two preseason games with the NHL club, tallying one assist before joining the Wranglers to begin 2022-23.
