Montreal Canadiens scoring legend Guy Lafleur was colourful and unmistakable on the ice, blazing down the right wing and unleashing laser shots past befuddled opposing goaltenders. An essential part of the Canadiens’ dynasties of the 1970s, who also spent time with the Rangers and Nordiques, Lafleur passed away on Friday after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 70.

The hockey world showed its respect for the Hockey Hall of Famer on Twitter after news of his death.
