Hurricanes’ Pacioretty tears Achillies two weeks after returning from same injury

Watch as Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty appears to suffer a non-contact lower leg injury in the final minute of a game against the Minnesota Wild, and is helped off the ice by training staff.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty suffered another right Achilles tear after an MRI confirmed the injury and has been placed on the IR, the team said on Friday.

The winger suffered the non-contact injury Thursday night in a 5-2 Canes win over the Minnesota Wild. Pacioretty was helped off the ice and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg.

The American underwent surgery for the same injury on Aug. 10, 2022 and had returned two weeks ago.

The Hurricanes announced that they had placed Pacioretty on injured reserve earlier on Friday.

Pacioretty has only played five games with Carolina since getting traded from the Vegas Golden Knights last summer.
