Is playoff drought about to end? Maple Leafs fans can’t contain excitement

Watch as Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alex Kerfoot tips home the OT winner to complete comeback in Game 4 against the Lightning, giving them a 3-1 series lead.

And then there was one.

After Alexander Kerfoot tipped home the overtime winner in Game 4 to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Leafs are now one victory away from ending the NHL’s longest active drought without a playoff series triumph.

It’s been 19 years since Maple Leafs fans have experienced a series victory, and with a 3-1 series lead, the finish line is in sight.

The Maple Leafs’ first chance to punch their ticket to Round 2 will come Thursday night back in Toronto.

It’s worth keeping in mind that the Leafs did have a 3-1 series lead on the Montreal Canadiens two years ago, only to lose in seven games. The Leafs have lost eight post-season series in a row, dating back to their first-round win over the Ottawa Senators in 2004.

If the reactions to Monday’s win were any indication, a series-clinching win could very well break the internet.

Here are some of the best reactions to the Maple Leafs’ Game 4 victory.
