Jets avoid arbitration with Appleton, sign three-year deal

The Winnipeg Jets and Mason Appleton have agreed to a three-year deal, according Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The contract, which is reportedly worth $6.25 million over the term, allows the parties to avoid going to arbitration, which Appleton had filed for on July 5.

Appleton, 26, was claimed by the Seattle Kraken a year ago in the NHL’s expansion draft, but re-acquired by the Jets in March of this year.

The American centre has 28 goals and 36 assists in 206 NHL games and is coming off a two-year deal worth $900,000 per season.
