Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler has cleared NHL COVID-19 protocols and is back practising with the team.

Wheeler entered the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol on Oct. 18 after testing positive for the virus and has missed the Jets’ last four games.

The 35-year-old has registered one assist in two games this season.

The Jets have also been without centreman Mark Scheifele, who tested positive after Wheeler. Scheifele’s status for Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings has not been announced.

Both Scheifele and Wheeler were asymptomatic and vaccinated against the virus.
